About the Role
Business Development Manager – Fire, Security & Gate Systems
Location: Aylesbury-based, with travel across London & Southeast
Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 08:00–17:00 (42.5 hours/week)
Contract: Permanent (6-month probation period)
Reports to: Sales Director
Salary: £35,000 – £50,000 base + uncapped commission & bonuses
On-Target Earnings (OTE): Up to £95,000 per annum
Role Overview
We’re seeking a driven and technically minded New Business Manager to support the growth of our Fire, Security & Gate Systems division. Based in Aylesbury, this is a client-facing role focused on developing new relationships, quoting for projects, and promoting our full-service offering across London and the Southeast.
You'll work alongside a seasoned engineering team, selling high-quality fire alarms, access control, security systems, and automated gate solutions to commercial, industrial, and residential clients. You’ll be backed by strong operational support and an environment that rewards performance and initiative.
Key Responsibilities
Generate and convert new business opportunities across fire, security, and gate automation services.
Prepare tailored proposals, tenders, and quotations with a consultative approach.
Work closely with engineers to scope technical requirements and site solutions.
Develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline via CRM (e.g., HubSpot).
Build strong relationships with contractors, FM companies, building managers, and developers.
Collaborate with marketing on campaigns and client engagement strategies.
Represent the company professionally on site visits and client meetings.
Keep abreast of industry regulations and standards (e.g. BS 5839, BS EN 12453).
Commission & Bonus Plan
Projects & Systems: 3% commission per qualifying project (at target margin)
Maintenance Contracts: 5% annually on recurring contracts
Remedial & Reactive Work: 1–3% depending on size/margin
Quarterly Bonus Scheme: Earn £333–£2,500 per quarter based on overachievement
OTE: Up to £95,000, with high performers already achieving six figures
What We’re Looking For
Essential
Background in fire protection, security systems, or gate automation
Track record of sales success, ideally in a technical or construction environment
Excellent client-facing and negotiation skills
CRM proficiency (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, or equivalent)
Self-motivated and target-driven with strong commercial awareness
Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across London/Southeast
Desirable
Knowledge of British Standards (e.g., BS 5839, BS 7671, BS EN 12453)
Ability to interpret technical drawings, layouts, or specs
Familiarity with access control, CCTV, intruder alarms, or fire alarm systems
Experience quoting for remedial fire or security system work
